PulsePDX, Portland’s premiere dance fitness experience was founded in 2011 to provide Zumba® Fitness in a unique dance club setting. Since then we’ve expanded our class offerings to include exciting new formats like Dance Fitness, POP Pilates®, Hip Hop Fitness, Barre Above, and the Melt Method®. We have rounded out the studio’s class schedule with innovative and unique classes like Burn and Gentle Stretch and Mobility which provide repair elements to encourage a more complete health routine for our students. Still not sure? Just stop by our location, centrally located just off I-84 on Sandy in the Hollywood district, and see for yourself why Pulse is going to be your very next favorite place to get fit and have fun.

Want to learn even more about the Pulse back story? Here’s a short history of the company:

Chapter One – The Beginning

PulsePDX was founded in 2011 by Julio Aleman, Heath Blain, and Jennifer Nielson with the vision of becoming Portland’s premiere nightclub dance fitness experience. The first classes were held at Refuge, in SE Portland. Then a second location was added at Cuda Beach Club (now defunct) in Chinatown near Burnside. Here are some early promo videos that were shot at those two early locations:

Chapter Two – Our Own Location

In 2013 PulsePDX signed the lease on it’s own building and moved into it’s current location on Sandy Boulevard. An extensive remodel was required to bring the space up to city code requirements (the original space was completely gutted).

Chapter 3 – More, more, MORE!

PulsePDX has added many more classes in the last 10 years, brought on more terrific teachers and formats, and the venue has been rented out for countless events. But the most exciting and special part of the PulsePDX story has got to be the wonderful community that has grown over the past 12 years. It’s so wonderful to see the human connections that spring up from people coming together every week.

Where will Pulse go now? What does the future look like? Hopefully it’s just more of everything. More great classes, more exciting and innovative teachers/styles, more spectacular events, and most importantly more happy faces coming through our doors every day!
