What do you do at Pulse?

I am the LaBlast dance fitness instructor.

What’s your background in dance, fitness, or both?

My dance background: I was active in musical theater in high school and college; earning leading roles in “Grease”, “Pippen”, and “A Chorus Line”. While in college, I was also a member of the “Arts House Dance Company”, where I did Jazz, Tap, Modern, Funk, Hip Hop, and some Ballet.

Fitness background: I have been teaching fitness classes for about 15+ years. I have taught Step, Cardio Kickboxing, Hi/Lo Aerobics, Strength Interval, Cardio Interval, Bootcamp, Zumba, Tabata, and LaBlast Fitness.

What’s your favorite thing about Pulse?

I love the energy and enthusiasm of the participants. Also the instructors, lighting techs, and class participants are super friendly and inviting.

What’s your favorite song, class, or routine?

I’d have to say favorite routine is to the song “Hush, Hush, Hush, Hush” by the Pussycat Dolls. It’s a fun little Cha Cha, that I choreographed about 10 years ago. It has proven to be class favorite as well.

What’s your “guilty pleasure”?

My “guilty pleasure” are dance movies. No matter how good or bad, I have to see them in the theaters. And chocolate cake (without the icing).

Can you describe your favorite memory of an experience at Pulse?

It would have to be seeing the smiles on the participants’ faces after I taught my free demo LaBlast class.

Lastly, how would you describe PulsePDX to someone that you know would enjoy it here?

A fun, energetic studio, with a nightclub/dance party feel
