I teach a fun, high-energy, rockout workout called Pound Fitness that combines cardio drumming (using weighted drumsticks) with strength training movements! When I’m not teaching Pound you’ll often find me on the dance floor in Dance Fitness, or maybe in a strength class here and there!

My first class at PulsePDX (back in 2011) was like joining a big party, and was the most fun I’ve ever had in a fitness class…I knew this place was something special. When Pulse started adding more dance classes and then strength classes to their schedule, I took as many as I could, and Pulse soon became my new fitness home. I love that Pulse welcomes everyone to come work on their fitness goals, or escape for an hour or two in a judgment-free environment where you feel like you’re working out with friends. And, to top it off, we get to do it in a fun studio, with an awesome sound system and no fluorescent lights or mirrors!
MY STORY
how I got started
I played softball through grade school, high school and into adulthood so hitting things hard is part of my DNA (and maybe why I like hitting sticks in Pound)! I’ve always had a love for music and dance and when I found Zumba many years ago, I discovered that fitness could be fun and was hooked! When my regular Zumba teacher moved out of the country I was forced to find a new Zumba home and that’s when I found PulsePDX. When Pulse started adding strength classes, I tried them all and I realized that building my strength was improving my balance and my endurance, and was accelerating my overall fitness journey. And then, Pulse introduced Pound and I couldn’t get enough. I felt myself getting stronger with every class and loved letting loose and rockin’ out with those ripstix! After several years of being a student I felt compelled to get licensed to teach Pound and in 2018 I did just that! I love every class I teach and I love every student that walks in and rocks out with us!

If you have an inner rockstar that you want to set free, or if you need some rhythm therapy, come join our Pound posse! We get loud to an energetic playlist that combines both rock and pop tracks and we get low with fun lunges, squats and pilates inspired movements while we drum to the beat. We offer different movement options for all fitness levels so whether you’re a seasoned rockstar or new to Pound, there’s something for everyone! In my class, I hope you feel free to let loose, make noise and be yourself! My students say they feel stronger and more empowered after Pound, and some say it just feels good to hit those sticks together! Come rockout with us and see!
